Papas Emanuele Giordano was a great champion within the local tradition of Arbëresh culture near the Parco Pollino, he was Papas of the village Eianina near Frascineto.

He did a very profound research about the living tradition of his region and recorded since the 1950s, including songs which are no longer part of the living tradition:

He was also very active to preserve the local Arbëresh dialect. He published a dictionary and a grammar, which you can still try to order on his homepage:

He translated the liturgical hymns from Greek into Arbëresh and published them with Chrysanthine notation:

Giordano, Emanuele. Himne Liturgjike Bizantino-Arbëreshe. Eianina: Biblioteka e ‘Jetës Arbëreshe’, 2005.

He wrote a handbook in Arbëresh to learn the neumes and the spread the knowledge of the terms. You can listen to his interpretation of the weekly apolytikion anastasimon in echos protos and according to his translation (recorded by Vincenzo la Vena):

His death is a great loss for Calabria, but he will stay with us by the presence of his students and with the soon publication of his great archive at Italo Elmo's homepage (arbelmo.it).
