Présentation: travaux et (ou) intérêts (Presentation: works and (or) interests)
My dissertation was on the development of small rhythmic values from the beginning of the Ars Nova through the mid-fifteenth century. I look at the various ways in which "the semiminim" was treated theoretically and in practice during the Ars Nova, ars subtilior/proportional notation, and later in the transition to void notation. I have a deep fascination with the creation and use of unique rhythmic note shapes, of proportional types of notation, of routes of transmission, of cultural interactions. I am also a singer, player, and director of early music.
