  • Mais ce n'est pas systématique pour les hymnes iambiques:

    Voir par exemple, au fo 29r, l'hymne Somno refectis artubus...

  • I think in this source the main issue is what to count as an upbeat, and (by consequence) which longa should "have" a point. For instance the "a solis ortus", I would be tempted to start that with an upbeat, but treat the first longa (A) as a syncopation. 

    What I find surprising though is that here all the hymns seem in binary, whilst in French and Italians sources I know of 15th century measured hymns and sequences they always come with a long-short (longa-brevis or brevis-semibrevis) trochaic pattern. This shows in the way many of these chants which have gotten into polyphony.

  • would be interesting to involve into the discussion the late medieval German notation for monodies - that too "seems" to be measured, but finally it is not - or better: not in a proper way.

  • Très intéressant! Il y a quelques ambiguïtés dans cette notation, mais il me semble que c'est tout en mesure binaire.
