The central focus of my research is the connection between the history of the book in Arabic script in Middle Eastern societies and the transmission of knowledge and the transfer of technology across Eurasia. I am particularly interested in the relationship between religious beliefs and societal attitudes toward knowledge production in the Muslim Middle East after the Mongol conquests of the thirteenth century CE.
