I work on liturgical music in its relationships with art, architecture, politics, hagiography, theology, etc. My current research focuses on music at the royal abbey of Saint-Denis, the liturgical inheritances and legacies of Abbot Suger, the liturgical cults of Saint Denis/Dionysius the Areopagite and various companion saints, Hildegard's music for saints, sacred music and the emotions, the metaphorical and material cultures of music and the senses, liturgical commemorations and votive services, penitential liturgies, etc.
