Voices & Instruments Program
Dr. Mauricio Molina and Voices and Musical Instruments Faculty
Course dedicated to the performance of monophonic and polyphonic repertoires composed between 1100 and 1300. The Course combines medieval music theory classes, ensemble playing, and individual lessons on singing and different musical instruments (see list below).
Group classes: English and Spanish
Individual classes: language agreed with the teacher
2016 theme: Carmina Burana
In the 2016 Voices and Instruments Program we will explore the fascinating and rich Latin song repertoire of the Carmina Burana. A variety of compositions will be studied and prepared for performance in the individual lessons, chamber sessions, and medieval ensemble class. The pieces will be performed in the student concert that gives closure to the course.
The Vocal and Instrumental Program is composed of the following classes:
- Theory and Performance of Medieval Music (group class)
- Officium in mane (for instrumentalists)
- Pythagorean Tuning (for singers)
- Medieval Ensemble (group class, all students)
- Voice or instrument lessons (one-on-one)
Optional class:
- Chamber Music Sessions (3-5 people each group)
