Workshop

The workshop is open to everyone who looks for a first introduction to the Orthodox traditions of monodic chant according to the “New Method”. It is organised in two parts:
1. Between 12-13 October there will be a traditional introduction to all the eight sticheraric echoi with the hesperinos (evening) psalm κύριε ἐκέκραξα (Ps. 140,1-2). Although the modern neume notation will not be excluded, the main focus is on the melos, its intonation
(echemata) and cadence formulas as the base to sing the doxastika according to the living tradition.
2. Between 14-16 October the second part is about the Doxastikon oktaechon Θεαρχίῳ νεύματι in the realisation of Petros Peloponnesios. The sticheron passes through all the eight echoi of the sticheraric melos.

The result will be presented together with the community of Lungro. Traditional singers of the village will contribute with the Kalimera for the Theotokos in Arbëresh dialect.
