I ran across this one the other day - it does not seem to have been announced here so I am forwarding it in case it slipped under the radar:1 J0/674 Composition musicale de Pierre de la Rue ou Pieter Van Straeten ou encore Pierchon (vers 1452-1518) 1500-1550https://archives.cotedor.fr/console/ir_ead_visu.php?ir=23483You will need to manually scroll down to item 674, or search for "composition" on that page to locate it in the list of items on the left - there does not seem to be a way of…

2-voice polyphonic setting of "In memoria eterna erit iustus" (Psalm 111 v. 7)

Here is another one: a later musical addition to the margins of a 13th c. manuscript containing Petrus Riga, Aurura. It seems to be 16th c., latter half?Apologies if it has been reported before – it seems to have been online a while.http://bibliotheque-numerique.bibliotheque-agglo-stomer.fr/idviewer/18247/9It's quite a nice little 2-part setting, actually. I will attach an image of the page in question (image remains © Bibliothèque de l’Agglomération du Pays de Saint-Omer) as well as a…

Two monophonic Credo settings with concordances in polyphonic sources

Another discovery which may be of interest: a re-used parchment serving as a cover for the 1633-1640 parish register for Cogolin, Var, France (Archives du Var, 7E 45/2), which preserves a large portion of the uppermost voice of the Credo from the Mass of Tournai and the last half of a rhythmicized version of the Credo Vat. I ("du vilage" or "dominicale") which is largely identical to the upper voice music of the Zacara de Teramo setting of this Credo. These concordances were identified by…

Two offset fragments from a 15th century chansonnier

I ran across these two fragments the other day – both offsets from from what were evidently parchment covers that had once been used for the 1674 parish vital record registers for Bona, Nièvre, France. Although they probably originated from the same musical manuscript, these offsets are currently located within two different larger volumes of collected parish registers in the archives départementales de la Nièvre (4 E 35/1 and 4 E 35/4). Each offset preserves a fragment of what appears to be…
