Salamanca 2637 = Aki 2

Les Sources Aki 2?

Andreas Pfisterer 2002, Cantilena Romana p. 306, combines Salamanca BU 2637 with the SOURCES-siglum Aki 2. But in Les SOURCES themselves Aki 2 is related to a manuscript of Madrid Palacio Nacional 429 (II.D.3) Océane Boudeau (Revista portuguesa de musicologia, 2016 p. 69-70) states that the manuscript was retransferred from Madrid to Salamanca in 1954.

The Madrilene numbers II D 3 and VII F 3 still can be seen on page 999e.

  • Qui biberit is noteworthy because the other Lenten-CO: Videns Dominus, Lutum fecit, Nemo te condemnavit and Oportet te show the same (aquitan) melismatic version in Albi, Yrieix, TOU, MIL 1 and Salamanca. The Qui biberit -version in Salamanca is the only case where one of these 5 manuscripts diverges.

    Provenance

The CO Qui biberit exhibits in several old mss a syllabic melody. The Aquitanian version is melismatic.

Albi 46v, Y 99v, TOU 180v, MIL 1 37. Salamanca (58r) shows, probably due to the preferred text quam ego dabo, the Aquitan incipit, but  exhibits the syllabic version for the remaining part of the CO.
