The organizing board, together with Pontificio Istituto Ambrosiano di Musica Sacra, Milan (Italy), Res Musica and Associazione Internazionale Studi di Canto Gregoriano (AISCGRE Italia), is pleased to announce the International Symposium on Ambrosian Chant (I.S.A.C.) 2017
Call for Papers
The International Symposium on Ambrosian Chant (“Il canto ambrosiano. Convegno internazionale di studi”) will take place on September 8-10, 2017 at Biblioteca Ambrosiana, Milano (Italy) and Lugano (Switzerland). In the days of the conference, three celebrations will take place: Vespers in Ambrosian rite, Vespers according Breviarium Ambrosianum 1962, and Solemn Mass in Basilica di S. Ambrogio with Ensemble Organum. An exhibition of Milanese manuscripts will be set at Biblioteca Ambrosiana and others Milanese libraries.

The symposium’s program committee invites scholars to submit titles and abstracts for papers and short presentations related to four thematic areas:
1. Sources and notation of Ambrosian chant
2. Forms and style
3. Ambrosian chant and other liturgical repertoires
4. History and liturgy
Papers on liturgy should regard themes related to liturgical chant (e.g. the forms of the musical parts of the liturgy, their function and position etc.).
Abstracts must not exceed 250 words. The presentation format will be a twenty-minute paper or a fifteen-minute short presentation; each thematic session will be followed by a discussion. Panels are accepted (format 30 min.)

4. Short biography (approx. 50 words)
5. Audio-visual requirements

The submission deadline is June 15, 2017.
Notification of acceptance will be sent by June 30, 2017.

Travels are on charge of participants; accommodation and meals will be covered by the organization. No conference fee is required
