Présentation: travaux et (ou) intérêts (Presentation: works and (or) interests)

I'm musician for medieval music with a strong interest in traditional music. I play mainly medieval fiddle but could not survive without researches in the field of medieval music and literature. More and more fascinated by the system of microtones I started to learn the Maqam system. I love to teach and to coach young musicians and ensembles in the fields of my specialisation. Moreover I direct the montalbâne Festival for medieval music and the montalbâne Ensemble with a special interest for medieval singing traditions.

It is so far the only known medieval vernacular text in a German dialect with music – or am I wrong?"

Susanne Ansorg replied to Arnold den Teuling's discussion Ein Deutsch Gesang in German Music
"Dear Arnold den Teuling, thank you a lot!
I'm on the way to perform this hymn with my Ensemble (in the context of a programme with medieval music from Franciscan monasteries) and I appreciate your input very much!
I agree: it is in Middle Dutch. But…"

Susanne Ansorg replied to Dominique Gatté's discussion Trois fragments de polyphonie germanique en-lignes : Clm 29775(2, (3 et (9 in German Music

Susanne Ansorg replied to Dominique Gatté's discussion A bagpipe from XIV century with "brunidèr" in Medieval and Renaissance wind instruments
"It would be absolutely esential to involve PETER RABANSER into the discussion - he and WALTER RIZZO did reconstruct exactely this type of bagpipe (after an Italian model from the second half of the 15th century). The instruments do sound great - and…"

Susanne Ansorg replied to Terrasa Xavier's discussion contrafactum pour Walther von der Vogelweide, Under der linden in Troubadours, trouvères et autres chants vernaculaires
"might be that it has to do with thomas binkley and his studio für frühe musik. they did a lot of pioneer work and it was one of their CDs where I found the first time the melody with the walther text. a good person to ask in our days would be anne…"

Susanne Ansorg replied to Dominique Gatté's discussion Chant des lamentations à 2 voix in Medieval Polyphony 1440-1600
"no, I don't think so. it might be that the use of brevis and semibrevis is indicating lengths. but for sure not a measure."

Susanne Ansorg replied to Dominique Gatté's discussion Hymnes rythmés dans un manuscrit de 1495 in Mensuralistes
"would be interesting to involve into the discussion the late medieval German notation for monodies - that too "seems" to be measured, but finally it is not - or better: not in a proper way."
